Mohave County has been subjected to high winds, microbursts, tornadoes, flooding, forest and range fires, hazardous material spills and storm damage through its history. Disaster comes in many varied forms and from a variety of causes. Warning may vary from seconds to days. Every community in Mohave County is vulnerable to some form of disaster. The County may in the future be subjected to extreme conditions resulting from natural and man-caused disasters.

Mohave County has certain capabilities which, if utilized in the event of peacetime disasters, will minimize loss of life and assure maximum preservation of property. These capabilities include manpower, equipment and skills of the Mohave County governmental departments and other governmental and private individuals and groups.

Mohave County can request support for its emergency functions from the State, other political subdivisions and from the private sector in order to perform its emergency response mission.

A.R.S. Section 26-301 et seq. & Resolution 279B defines powers, duties, and responsibilities for emergency preparedness at the State and political subdivision levels.
