This division administers a variety of health education and nutrition programs. Programs include: WIC, a supplemental nutrition program for women, infants and children, which provides food vouchers and nutrition education to qualified applicants; the Mohave County Tobacco Use Prevention Program (McTUPP), which subcontracts with schools, after school programs, youth groups, and others to discharge tobacco use; Promoting Lifetime Activity for Youth (P.L.A.Y.), which works with area schools to encourage physical activity programs for fourth through seventh grades; Injury Prevention and Safe Kids, which coordinates with fire, police and neighborhood groups to provide information on bike helmets and child passenger safety seats; the Community Nutrition Program (CNP), which provides nutrition education programs to area elementary schools, and a small commodity food program. The Division is also piloting a WIC/Tobacco program which targets cessation efforts on pregnant women, and a CDC data quality study.
