The Environmental Health Division (EHD) provides inspection and licensure or permitting of all food and beverage establishments, groceries, catering services and wholesale food distributors. They provide the same services for all sewage disposal systems, swimming pools, septic haulers and lodging establishments. In addition, they review subdivision plans for sewage disposal and answer valid environmental complaints from department offices in Kingman, Bullhead City, Lake Havasu City and Littlefield.
The EHD works under a
delegation agreement from the
Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and a second delegation agreement from the
Arizona Department of Health Services. These agreements outline the responsibilities of the local health department and give the county authority to carry out those functions.
The EHD services are carried out by Environmental Health Specialists. The Environmental Health Specialist is one who has a strong background in scientific studies and has passed a Registration exam administered by the
Arizona Department of Health Services. Those studying for the exam are Environmental Health Technicians. The registration process is overseen by the Arizona Sanitarian's Council.
Mohave County EHD operates out of three main district offices. The contact information is as follows:
