The number of violent crime cases (i.e. murder, aggravated assault, sexual abuse, etc.) has increased by approximately 10% in the past two years. In 2003, our office opened 457 violent crime cases as well as 2,026 various other types of felony cases. Our office reviewed 3,339 cases for possible charging.
